Bargeboard is exterior house trim usually ornately carved that is attached along the roof line of a gable. This roof trim is designed to be nailed or screwed directly onto your fascia board. See victorian gables page. Victorian gable trim celebrates craftsmanship with elaborate scrollwork and curved accents.

Originally this victorian wood trim also called vergeboard or verge board verge being the end or edge of a thing was used to hide the ends of rafters. Not every roof has fascia all around because some roofing designs include open ended rafters. See videos below for demonstration. The gable sets are designed to be nailed flat onto your existing fascia boards or with a little more work hang from the bottom of your fascia boards.

While not as heavily ornamented as gingerbread accents these classic features add incredibly detailed visually dramatic elements to almost any design. Roof fascia boards are not structurally important for a roof but they are often essential to the overall appearance of the house. The fascia covers the gables and ends of the roof rafters and builders usually consider it part of the siding trim. I make gable sets in a variety of sizes allowing a good fit to any roof line or window decoration.
